Library Access

The Schaefer Law Library is open to faculty, students, and the public.  All seating is open to faculty except for currently reserved or in-use study rooms.  Faculty enjoy the most expansive borrowing privileges available to law library patrons, and the reference staff is happy to assist with research questions and the retrieval of materials within the library or elsewhere.

Borrowing Privileges

Faculty may check out normally circulating materials in the law library for six months.  Reserve collection materials check out to faculty for one month.

Limitations on multi-volume sets and looseleaf circulation exist; please contact the reference desk or Robin Lozier if you would like to discuss checking out these materials.

Library Account

You can access your account from the Schaefer Law Library home page or from this link.  Here you can check the status of your account or renew materials.

Purchase Requests

If there is a book or resource that you would like the library to consider for purchase, you may request it via Web Services using the document delivery form.  If your request is more nuanced or you would like to discuss it before placing, please contact the reference desk directly.

Study Rooms

The law library has several study rooms that are designed for small group work.  Typically reserved by and for law students, these rooms can also be used for instruction, work by research assistants, and other purposes.  Students may only reserve rooms up to 24 hours in advance, but a librarian can place a reservation well in advance for faculty or staff.  Please contact the reference desk for more information.
